Since there appears to be some confusion and RP seems to be going far far away from previously stated parameters for these races on Annakolia I wish to make this perfectly clear:

Elves:

The elves on Annakolia are designed and conceived from Tolken's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. There are basicly two types of elves, the high elves and the wood elves.

There is a third type of elf, Gygax's Drow (NOT Faerun Drow) and their modification as found on Annakolia is detailed in another post.

High Elves --

These elves are represented by the Lathine elves on Annakolia and although at war with humans -- they are above racism and forms of human revenge. The Humans at war with the elves may show racism and hatred but NOT the elves, they are above that.

High Elves are haughty, proud, and perhaps quick to defend but NOT looking to pick fights and engage the humans in a way the humans wish to attack the elves.

Wood Elves:

Wood Elves are more relaxed and "gay" (NOT the pre-negative same sex, sexual conotation of that word). They love to party, and in many ways should get along with halflings very very well, having some of the same values.

Elomen Elves are wood elves. They are NOT racists.

All elves might be wary of humans for many reasons but they are friendly and guileless folk at the core.

Halflings:

Halfings, with the exception of those tainted by the corruption stone on Eastern Island in Dhake, are exactly like the Hobbits of Tolken.

Halfings do not like their communities invaded by other races.
Halfings have a basic mistrust of anyone not halfling.
Halfings hold elves in awe.

Please keep these races true to Annakolia.

The Elves of Lord of the Rings are hardly all Friendly and Guileless at their core. Feanor and his sons, for example, slaughtered their own kin and stole their ships so they could chase Morgoth. The Elves of Lord of the Rings do TEND towards good, but there are some definitely Evil or Questionable specimens - Maeglin, Feanor and his sons, certain others mentioned in the tale of Turin Turambar.

Trust me, there still are elves of questionable character out there.

Twisted Evil

Thanks for the post, Barry. It clarifies some long standing questtions I've had about Elomen and Lathine.

Please note -- i cited ONLY The Hobbit and the LOTR as sources for elf behavior and NOT any other Tolken sources. In fact, when Annakolia was being first designed and played (in the 1970s) those other sources were yet unpublished and unread by us. Those are also the sources E. Gary Gygax points at in a number of early writings as his basic source for elves and halflings.

Although some past histories are hinted at, nothing is detailed and there are really no dark sided nasty elf happenings described as in the later works we are NOT considering.

Men seem to fear the elves in the Lothlorin forest -- probably went in to cut trees (think Fingar and Lathine). When base world views and values clash there will be trouble.

We do have Drow -- who, although not inherently evil, tend to the dark side much too often.

The Elves in the Hobbit are not especially friendly or guileless either - Thranduil locks up the Dwarves basically because they're Dwarves, steals all their crap, and tries to force them into giving them their rightful treasures.

That was just a carry over hostility stemming from the dwarven/elven wars, not any inherent evil on Thranduil's part.

I didn't say Thranduil was Evil, but I did say that he was hardly a moral paragon - and I'd say his treatment of the Dwarves was pretty bloody racist, justified by history or not.
