Follow the Big red arrow -- a lot of sparkly lights around a portal - go there.

The 'larger' portal which you first appear in front of (on initial character creation or after a server reboot) will place you in the 'inner courtyard' of Sidonia's castle - the 'School for Adventurer's which serves as the 'focal point' and 'draw' to would be adventurers from across the Galandar World.

Characters may assume that they arrived before the schools door by a combination of mundane travel, perhaps a sea crossing and/or as part of a merchant caravan travelling to the nearby City of Annakol; it matters little - the character will have had almost no opportunity to have 'seen the world' and will arrive knowing next to nothing of the lands about them nor with any real concept of their 'position' in respect to whence they came.

Note: Characters must always be created with an 'RoA background' in mind which is 'harmonious' in respect of the gameworld; characters begin at 2nd level and so have little to no 'previous experience' (claims of fame and fortune are inappropriate at this 'novice' level).

At the 'School for Adventurers' a character will (with a little exploration) find people willing to 'outfit' the new arrival with equipment (at a price) and, within the keep, a 'training ground' of which they may (In Character) avail themselves. Beneath the castle itself lies a perilous (for the unseeasoned adventurer) donjon where a character may first 'test their metal' - or their wyrd.

Beyond the school ground to the west lies Annakol North Road, the (in)famous 'Fiesty Chicken' Inn and the City of Annakol herself - the gateway to fame and fortune.

... which does NOT mean you need to have a complicated back-story in order to play! Very Happy

Simple backgrounds include:

The son of a lesser merchant who has traveled into town
The daughter of an area farmer looking for love and adventure
A young druid seeking to better understand the world around them
An obnoxious young paladin who was kicked out of the monastary because he was disturbing the monks' vows of silence.

Welcome!!

An annoying little halfling forced abroad by his village because he was overly chatty even by halfling standards. Wink

And don't feel bad if you miss Barry's Big Neon Sign directing you to the portal. It may have been knocked down a by a rather large truck... accidentally. *whistles innocently*
