A sheet of paper filled with handwritten translation notes was left inside the front cover of a book in Sidonia's library. Most of the writing has been crossed out, is in some mixture of odd languages, or consists of short, nearly meaningless phrases and question marks, such as "Baen? Moria? (crossed out several times) Durin? bndg. insuff. S3, P2, B3, 90%, but 0%, 300 to 20! EW next - eta?"

Down in one corner, however, circled a few times, is a finished poem.

To pass into the burning, seek gates in wall of frost
The key for all your learning, concealed but not yet lost
For giant's trust in hatred, from frost to fire you go
Past deadly secrets harbored, from fire and then to snow

Below it is a small, neatly handwritten note:

"Copy this to the journal ASAP. Need Demonomicon. Practice textured loops."
